About Need for Speed Browser

Need for Speed Browser is an independent, fan-made guide to playing classic Need for Speed games in a web browser. In late 2026, community developers began releasing WebAssembly ports that run the original PC games — including Underground 2 and Most Wanted 2005 — directly in WebGPU-capable browsers. Our mission is simple: collect the verified entry points, explain the requirements, and help you fix the problems that stop the games from launching.

What This Site Does

  • Link to browser port projects we have personally verified and describe their real, current status
  • Explain browser and hardware requirements, including WebGPU support
  • Document default controls and troubleshooting steps for the ports
  • Answer the questions players actually ask about saves, multiplayer, and mobile play

What This Site Is Not

  • We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Electronic Arts
  • We do not host, mirror, or distribute any game files, ROMs, or installers
  • We do not operate the games themselves — every Play button opens the official project page in a new tab
  • We are not the official Need for Speed website; EA has not released an official browser version

Our Independence Policy

Every project featured on this site is publicly and freely accessible. We list each project's true status — including experimental features and known limitations — so you can decide before you click. We never claim a game is playable on this page itself, because it is not: the games run on the project sites we link to.
